Its foolish to come to any definitive conclusions based of these reports but if its any indication at all of the direction the Chargers are going in the draft, then I think its safe to say the team and I are on the same page in terms of evaluating need areas. Certainly the Chargers need to get a quality Strong Safety to compete for playing time (I know Hart started last year, but who is his backup? Is there anyone even competing with him for a job?). I have been calling for better play from our kick return team and that starts with the returner. Sproles has been okay but far from spectacular and it would not be out of the question for the Chargers to take the best available playmaker with their first round pick. Royal isn't a first round talent but he is a good player and could help in the return game. And while I find it interesting the Chargers are scouting outside linebackers due to the emergence of Jyles Tucker and versatility of Anthony Waters, I suppose a 34 defense can never have enough good linebackers.
