One player who has done nothing but impress scouts since declaring for the draft has been Eddie Royal, former wide receiver and return specialist at Virginia Tech. Royal was impressive at the Senior Bowl and has had one of the most impressive Combine performances among all prospects, regardless of position.At the Combine, Royal was in the top 10 in nearly all categories among the wide receivers, including being number one in bench press reps! He recorded a blazing 4.39 forty officially, and also had impressive numbers in the vertical jump and 60-yard shuttle.
Royal isn't the biggest guy around(5'10" 185LBS), but he is a terror in the open field with the ball in his hands. I have said it in the past, that the Chargers should look at add a playmaker in the return game, and for what it's worth the team was spotted chatting with Royal at the Senior Bowl.
Eddie Royal is emerging as one of the better slot receiver prospects in the draft and has been having some nice interviews with NFL personnel. Take a look at this guy in action:
