Chargers Hosting Multiple Prospects In San Diego

The San Diego Chargers have worked out, or plan to work out a number of top prospects down at Chargers Park. Getting an up-close and personal look at these potential Bolts is an important part of the draft process. In the past week or so, we've identified at a handful of players who will visit the team in San Diego:

Oregon Safety Patrick Chung
Oklahoma Safety Nic Harris
Ohio State Running Back Chris Beanie Wells
NC State Running Back Andre Brown
Michigan State Running Back Javon Ringer
San Jose State Defensive Lineman Jerron Gilbert
Stillman College Defensive Lineman Sammie Lee Hill
USC Defensive Lineman Fili Moala
San Diego State Linebacker Russell Allen
University of Pittsburgh Linebacker Scott McKillop
Western Michigan Cornerback E.J. Biggers

Feel free to contribute to this list by adding the names of any prospects I've left off the list in the comments section below...

I hope we host private workouts to these other players as well :

Rey Maualuga, MLB, USC.
Ebon Britton, OT, Arizona.
Andre Smith, OT, Alabama.
Michael Oher, OT, Ole Miss.

Those are some possible first round selections the chargers may pick. However, I won't be surprised if AJ Smith trades away the pick for let's say a : trade 1st rounder and 6th rounder for a team with 2 second rounders.

I really like how the chargers are hosting Fili Moala, a much-hyped prospect last year though clearly his stock has fallen.

Running backs such as Javon Riner, SHon Greene, and Donald Brown sound like potential picks but I am doubtful due to the resigning of LT and franchising of Sproles.

Realistically, I see the chargers picking an OT, DL, or possibly the best prospect available.

a rookie safety is not the anwser......we need a veteran safety right now......if we dont upgrade that position......another wasted season

Malcolm Jenkins, bring him in and play as safety. Or take Maualuga in the 1st, Moala in the 3rd. In the 4th address, OL,Safety, WR or RB. Hart should play better with Merriman back and with Rivera running the defense for a full off season. Also, give Oliver some reps and let him start if he improves later on down the season. I think Oliver will be a better safety than hart. I would like to get a guy like Delmas, Chung, Vaughn or Johnson from Bama. All good safety's. Ban Cromartie from training with Neon Deion. Needs to improve his cover skills, can't always go for the home run play. Or put Cason as a safety. 808

we need a big playmaker on offense or else we are not a dangerous threat to opposing defenses. We should draft Maclin if he is there since Chambers will most likey leave in the next couple of years. If Maclin is gone, then we must concentrate on defense since there is no other big playmaker on offense. (Harvin?)

dude vincent jackson is a monster we have plenty of playmakers on offense, we need to address defense cause it wins championships, look at pittsburg

It's funny how WE all speculate who AJ and the chargers are going to draft in the 1st round.. If you look at the past drafts, it's always been someone who's not on the radar. Exp: A. Cason, B. Davis, A. Cromartie, even L. Castillo!

So this draft it will probably be Evander "Ziggy" Hood. You know AJ loves guys with a nickname.

if we sign a running back this year it's goin to be really disappointing because if L.T. has a great year or even good that rookie running back is going to have to play the back for a while. we need someone who we can throw in the mix to start. an impact player and i feel it should be on the defensive side because are offense is pretty explosive already.

not one sighting of an OT....well done AJ.....let the running game suffer again.....r u trying to get rid of LT?...no Oline, no production gives you the out you want......we all know its your team AJ....can we get past that and do what is best to get that unattainable ring?

We need a playmaker on defense - Any of the USC linebackers will do. Unless they trade up to get B.J. Raji, although Raji only played good for one year. A.J. Smith said that they're are plenty of good running backs, plenty of championship caliber running backs that he can get in the later rounds so the chances of him drafting a running back in the first round is slim. A.J. Smith does give signs to what he will do. When he went looking for a head coach he said having head coaching experience is a plus and he chose the one coach who had head coaching experience of the candidates he interviewed - Norv Turner, so I think he will draft a running back later in the draft - Alabama's running back Coffee and North Carolina's State's running back may be options but I think the first pick will be Rey Maualuga from USC or Tyson Jackson from LSU, although LSU defensive players have yet to make an impact in the NFL. If we get an offensive player my hope is we get Shonn Green from Iowa, Chris Wells, Darius Butler, or eith of the running backs I mentioned earlier - not Knowshon Moreno who may have flashed moves and jumping ability in college but he did that while playing against amateurs - he simply is not fast enough to do the same thing in the NFL.
