Chargers Select Tackle Eben Britton In Bloggers Mock

Eben Britton
As draft day draws nearer and nearer, speculation as to what position the San Diego Chargers will address in the first round continues to grow. Some feel the Chargers would be best suited to draft a running back with their top pick. Others feel an upgrade at safety is needed, or help along the defensive line. But those who've followed the team closely know how much the Chargers want a top offensive tackle.

Last year, the Chargers were poised to select an offensive tackle with the 27th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. Unfortunately for the Bolts, a record eight offensive tackles were selected in the first 26 picks. By the time the Chargers came on to the clock, all the tackles were gone. This year, the Chargers are in a much better position to acquire an elite tackle.

Chargers GM AJ Smith has made it no secret that he is not happy about the way his team has struggled to run the football, and plans to address the issue:

"I just know we're not good enough. But I will say this, which I've said before: we need to have a solid, consistent running game. We have to." - AJ Smith

BoltHype - The San Diego Chargers Blog, represented the Chargers in the NoLogoNeeded bloggers mock draft. A group of 32 bloggers were assembled and tasked with selecting a player for their teams in a running mock draft. Here is how the draft played out:

Yes i believe this is a good move. Like i said previously this will secure greener pastures for LTizzle to sizzle again, Sproles lightning, and whoever it may be in the back field. I was thinking middle linebacker but since we picked up Burnette I have a feeling we'll be alot better with him there and also since we'll have the shawne and shaun show back once again. What say you?!

What will the Chargers do with the 16th pick? Check out this writer’s opinion. http://fanzak.com/fzrants/Mock_Draft_10___Middle_Of_The_Pack_Selections

maybe the chargers should trade their 1st round 16th pick for detroit's 1st round 20th pick and their 2nd or 3rd round pick to pick up the necessary peices

Good move but not the best one. If Ray is still available for the Chargers, they should take him.

It is true that they need to improve the OL, but we all know that they can put points on the board, the problem is to stop the other guys offense. Deja-vu....

Detroit and Chicago both need a quarterback. What do you guys think about trading Charlie Whitehurst for a pick? Does he become an RFA next year?

With the top 4 OT's gone, I would have to go defense- either Aaron Maybin (not the perfect DE in a 3-4) or Tyson Jackson.

With Igor Olshanky's departure DE is the top priority. The best pick available at #16: DE Tyson Jackson LSU

Inside Linebacker was solved with the signing of Kevin Burnett. So those who are hoping for Maluaga will be dissappointed. Besides, a coverage LB is more of a priority and Rey is not one of those but more of a downhill hole plugger. I also don't understand all those hoping for an RB in the 1rst round.

The right side of the offensive line should also be addressed. AJ should have done this last 2 drafts but wasted them on Craig Davis and Jacob Hester. I would love to have that monster Jerome Williams but our Round 2 was wasted on Hester. Jerome won't fall into the 3rd round.
