Sproles Is More Dangerous Than LT Says One NFL Coach

The San Diego Chargers and Ladainian Tomlinson finally coming to an agreement contractually this week certainly boosts the team's playoff chances. Tomlinson is eager to prove that he can still be an elite runner in the NFL, and the chip on his shoulder heading in to 2009 should not be overlooked. But not everyone feels LT is a versatile and explosive threat out of the backfield. In fact, one NFL coach think Sproles is the most dangerous running back on San Diego's roster:

"Sproles is more dangerous to me than the other guy. I was more concerned about Sproles than I was about Tomlinson. He's quick, explosive, and Tomlinson doesn't have that anymore. Sproles is much better and I guarantee he will be a greater factor next season. He's a great player, don't get me wrong. But he's got a lot of injury problems."

Is this anonymous coach totally off-base, or is there some validity to his statements?

Absolutly not. The Steelers would have been more worried with a healthy LT than they were with Darren. Off-base? Well, yes, a bit.

What a joke. Any coach who refers to LT, a future hall of famer as "the other guy" is just trying to stir shit.

Sproles is more dangerous at this point! He's faster, quicker, and if he gets into the open field he's gone. However, he's not as strong or durable and cannot handle a full time starting job. This is why we should stop looking at them as separate running backs and more like a team. Re-signing LT was incredibly important cause Sproles can't go alone and now we have a two-headed monster at running back. Sproles is more dangerous but he needs a partner to handle all the snaps he can't, who better than LT. However, the running backs were not the real problem with the running game last year, the real problem was the right side of that O-Line. We need a dominant right tackle so we don't always have to run it to the left. Clary should be fine at right guard.

I couldn't agree more, the little guy is always there in 3rd downs daring you blitz so the dump off goes for 50 yards. Oh and did I mention he returns kicks and punt extremely well too.

hahhaha tomlinson is not even 30 years old he is still young and what coach would think sproles is more dangerous than lt lt scored 31 tochdowns in 2006 he still has it in him to go a few more seasons i have no idea which coach said that but his defense is going to have a huge problem underestimating him like that but its what they think so i wish them the best of luck but dont say i didnt warn them

sproles is more dangerous out of the flap catching passes but i dont think that he is better than tomlinson when it comes to running the ball. i know lt didnt look so good these past two seasons but come on. lt will b back in business this season GO BOLTS!!!

I'd like to hear what the other 31 NFL coaches had to say on the subject.

Though really, it doesn't matter. I hope the LT is underestimated by every Defense the Chargers face this year.
