I'm not what you'd consider to be an avid golfer. I've played golf once in my life, and hit balls at a driving range only a handful of times. That being said, this past weekend I crushed about two-dozen golf balls with surprising consistency. Not only was I driving the ball straight down the range, I was getting excellent distance as well. With a good roll, I was probably driving the ball a good 250 yards...not bad for a novice. The secret to my success?;
NIKE's new DYMO SQ STR8-FIT driver. I was lucky enough to be able to use this club over the weekend, and myself along with my dad, uncles, and brother, couldn't stop raving about it after we put it through it's paces.
When it comes to golf, we're all at different experience levels. My younger brother and I are the beginners of the group. Having only tee'd it up but a handful of times in our lives, we both found ourselves having the best driving range sessions of our lives. My uncle Fred Zepeda is a novice, but he's a big fan of golf and watches it pretty regularly on TV. My father Bob Zepeda gets out to the course every so often, and you'll find find my uncle Mike out on the greens teeing it up weekly.
Here is what my Dad had to say:
"It [the NIKE STR8-FIT] really helped me drive the ball straight; it was probably the most consistently straight I've hit the ball. I like this driver. It's light, it's got a big face, and it's got a lot of surface area to hit the ball. Going in to the swing, I felt confidant that I'd make good contact because of it's wide face."
My uncle Fred also really liked the club:
"For a beginner, which is what I'd consider myself, I think I was able to swing pretty well. Most of my shots went pretty straight, I got good distance. I didn't get the height I was expecting, but I got the distance. And as long as it goes straight and long, that's all I care about. Like I said, I'm not the most avid golfer, so I wouldn't know how much a driver like this would cost. But I bet you it's worth whatever they're charging for it. And it's probably worth every penny."
As for my avid-golfer uncle Mike? He was quite impressed with the NIKE STR8-FIT:
"It's a very forgiving club. The sweet spot is a very good size, and the weight is really balanced. For those of us who have a tendency to slice the ball, it helps us to compensate on the swing and hit the ball a lot straighter.
I currently play a Taylor-Maid Quad and although it allows you to dial in your swing and compensate for your tendencies, the [NIKE STR8-FIT] just by design allows you to hit the ball a lot straighter. Obviously it's an important part of your golf game, being able to drive the ball straight down the line.
In terms of cost, my guess would be, for a club like this, you're looking at around 300-500 dollars. Especially considering the name brand and the fact that this driver is a top-end club that people use on the tour. This is absolutely a high-end club."
EIGHT WAYS TO ATTACK ANY COURSE
The simple STR8-Fit shaft adapter built into the hosel gives you access to eight unique head positions, delivering eight different ball flights to either dramatically correct your ball flight or subtly perfect it. Eight head positions. Eight ways to attack any course.
STR8-FIT Shaft Adapter and Hosel System
Eight possible head positions resulting in eight different shot shapes – all in a single driver.
Dynamic Moment of inertia
All SQ DYMO STR8-FIT and SQ DYMO² STR8-FITdrivers are engineered from the ground up with the express purpose of optimizing the launch and spin by loft. Distance is maximized in every loft by varying multiple specifications from lie angle, to MOI and CG placement, to overall head size and face depth.
Square or Round Geometry
Square geometry is about straight and long, great sound, optimal launch by loft, and great looks. A new folded round geometry repositions square mass into a round format for workable distance and control. Two designs for the player that wants to “swing away.”
UST proforce AXIV Core Shafts
Engineered into the interior of the shaft, AXIV Core material increases the shaft’s “hoop” strength, and counter-balance effect. Providing a stable environment at impact and making it easier to swing the club head faster.
New 360 Degree Grip Design
Designed to work and feel the same in any direction, the new SQ 360 degree design features inverted pyramids for maximum traction and grip in the left hand, and a tread pattern under the right hand improving comfort and feel.
Securely fasten your STR8-FIT shaft to the driver head with ease by using the 70 in/lbs torque wrench. This wrench fits comfortably in your hand and stays neatly in the head cover. Lights and alarms sound when the proper torque is achieved.
Head Cover with Wrench pounch and STR8-FIT Wheel
Information, storage and protection are what come with the STR8-FIT head covers. An attractive cover, with storage for the torque wrench, and head positioning reference wheel, keeps everything in one location.
