5 Signs You're A Die-Hard Chargers Fan

5 Signs You're A Die-Hard Chargers Fan

1. You at one point seriously considered naming your child after a favorite Chargers player:

How many of you have kid's named Dan, Stan, or Drew? I know there's got to be a few of you who tossed around the idea of naming your boys Natrone or LaDainian!

2. You still wear jerseys of players no longer with the team:

No matter how beat this rag jersey is, this guy still rocks his Natrone Means #20.

3. You secretly hope the Chargers would re-sign Junior Seau and Rodney Harrison for one more season:

Admit it, you wrote letters to the Chargers front office begging them to bring back the "Hit Man" and the "Tasmanian Devil"

4. You break out the Lights Out dance anytime something cool happens in life:

5. One of your two ring tones is the "San Diego Super Chargers" song...and your other ring tone POD's "Chargers Anthem":

Hey, what the hell; I'll take a shot...

#5 - You are STILL wondering if the Chargers were actually named after Hilton's then-new "charge account cards" back in 1961.

#4 - You not only remember CB and kick-returner extraordinaire "Speedy" Duncan, but you know his first name was Leslie AND the address of his old rib joint.

#3 - You not only know that Hall-of-Famer Lance Alworth was signed by the Chargers before the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans by then-Charger scout Al Davis on the field, but WHERE on the field (under the goal posts).

#2 - You not only know that Tom Dempsey holds the NFL's 63-yard field goal distance record from nearly forty years ago, but that he began the 1969 season in the CHARGERS training camp, and played at Palomar Junior College.

#1 - You not only know that Marty Schottenheimer (the then-current Winningest Head Coach in the NFL) was finally fired for running counter to the Spanos' anti-nepotism policy when he tried to hire his brother as Defensive Coordinator, but you actually know how many SPANOS’ work for the Charger organization AND what jobs they actually DO?!

@ Anonymous above: fantastic post..just curious, what was the name of Leslie Duncan's rib joint? Is it still around? Love me some ribs

Anonymous said... Jul 20, 2009, 4:39:00 PM

Sorry, I do NOT actually remember the name of his defunct rib joint, but I heard it was good although short-lived. I believe the name was something obvious like "Speedy' Duncan's ribs" or something like that.
"Speedy" Duncan was one of the most exciting players to EVER put on a helmet around here, but last I heard he was teaching elementary school elsewhere in California. The only evidence I've found of his (possibly) current whereabouts is this tempting BBQ sauce recipe posted online by one (mysterious?) Leslie Duncan at: http://www.pepperfool.com/recipes/chipotle/creamy_chipotle.html
Could it..., possibly..., be HIM?!?

Hey Anon

I'm pretty sure that's only 1 reason. You're overflowing with creativity, intelligence, and douchebaggery.

I'm guilty of #5 (Super Charger Song) and I write haikus about Charger victories.

5 Reasons it sucks to be a raiders fan

5. The only thing you have to stand on against Chargers fans is the fact that they have no rings, but your team got rings 20 years ago.

4. You've lost to the Chargers (who have never won a superbowl, and you think are a pitiful team) a dozen times in a row.

3. You have nothing better to do with your time but to go to a chargers fan site and babble about them having no rings.

2. Even when you do go to flame the chargers sites, you have to do it anonymously.

1. Al Davis is still alive.

You know you're a True Bolt fan when?

5. When it takes you all week to recover from a loss.

4. When you know every significant player from the Air Coryell days.

3. When you still go to SEAUS to see the boltz play.

2. When you renew your season tixs after a 1 and 15 season.

1. When it takes all week to recover from a win.
