HALLELUIA!! Thanks for the good news, Rob!!
The only regret is that we won't reap the benefits of the trade until the 2011 draft. I sincerely hope Cro-magnon man has success in NY so we can get a 2nd rounder in 2011.

In retrospect, he is a great talent but seems to have lost focus. Maybe playing under a defensive guru (Rex Ryan) will help his career. But he will always be remebered for that career game against the Colts a couple of years back. That one-armed interception against Manning was one of the greatest defensive plays I have ever seen.

Cromartie finaly got trade. Thank God!! He needs a wake up call. This is it. Hopefully for him and his children, he will grow up and quit bad mouthing his coaches. So much talent, but so much negative attitude. Maybe we can use that draft pick to move up on draft board.

Now lets see who else wants to make a deal. Charlie Whitehurst seems some teams are interested in. Hopefully Somebody will trade for Merriman, another player that needs a change of enviorment.

and? it makes sense, he was playing for them in the divisional round.

How ironic that the Jets want the guy who let them score the game winning touchdown in the playoffs.

We finally traded Antonio "El Seed" Cromartie?! Wow!! I'm a little surprised the Chargers sent him to a AFC rival with the #1 defense from 2009 (rather than the NFL back woods of Detroit or Buffalo). But I'm especially surprised that Rex Ryan and Dennis Thurman (the Jets defensive backs coach) would even consider taking Diana Ross.., er, I mean Cromartie; off our hands. It will be interesting to see if their obviously high-grade coaching will finally turn the trick with Cro's head and/or heart problems. He is an impressive athlete, no doubt.
But most surprising of all: That the NFL would consider unleashing Cro in the high-density female population of New York City!? Women beware: Keep your legs crossed constantly and grease your hips, Kid Kondom is coming to your town!

Jets Acquire Antonio Cromartie From San Diego

3/04/2010 10:50 PM ET By Dan Graziano

Antonio Cromartie: The Jets finished the 2009-10 season ranked first in the NFL in total defense, but they entered the off-season looking to upgrade, especially in the secondary. On the eve of free agency, they believe they've done that. A source with one of the teams involved confirmed to FanHouse that the Jets are nearing completion on a deal that will bring them Chargers cornerback Antonio Cromartie in exchange for a 2011 draft pick. The pick will be either a third-rounder or a second-rounder, depending on Cromartie's performance in 2010.

The deal gives the Jets a potential star corner to play opposite the one they already have -- All-Pro Darrelle Revis. The Chargers were looking to ship Cromartie out of town after what they deemed a lackluster effort in their playoff loss to (ironically) the Jets, but the Jets are of the belief that a change of scenery and playing for Rex Ryan might fire Cromartie up and bring his talent back to the fore.

If that's what happens, the Jets' defense could be armed with two lockdown cornerbacks, which would allow Ryan to continue to run his blitzes (knowing he can cover the receivers without help) and reducing the need for the Jets to try and find an edge pass rusher on the off-season market. As one of the final four teams from this year's NFL playoffs, the Jets are severely limited in the extent to which they can pursue free agents.

As free agency began, the Jets released disappointing cornerback Lito Sheppard and could continue the overhaul of their defensive secondary with a trade of safety Kerry Rhodes and the possible release of cornerback Donald Strickland. So the Jets may not be finished tinkering with the league's top defense, but their hope is that they managed to upgrade it Thursday night.

The Union-Tribune quotes Quentin Jammer suggesting this morning that Antonio Cromartie's limp-wristed football "antics" may have been done *purposefully* to initiate a trade away from San Diego!? PURPOSEFULLY!!! If that's the case, the Chargers should freeze any remaining monies owed that sorry-ass loser, sue him to get every penny every paid BACK, and his former defensive teammates should gather en masse and stomp the holy sh*t outta him before he leaves town! Blood in, blood out; homie.
If, and I repeat "if", Cromartie was even ever suspected of willingly undermining his team, I have two pertinent questions:
(1) Why did the Charger coaches and management allow that chump to start?
(2) Why doesn't the NFL Commissioner suspend him, without pay, for at least a year (?!); something they would easily do if any player was suspected of purposeful lack of effort that might effect a game, as might be the case when gambling "interests" get an athlete to "throw a game" and undermine the credibility of both a game and a whole league.
I'm definitely glad to see Cro go, but it's just not far enough. I think he should be banished from the NFL. Let the jerk play in Canada.

Cromartie makes Pac-man look like a choir boy. And it's funny how Jets fans think that this is a great move for them. Sure they beat us in last year's playoffs, but I guarantee they won't come close to making the playoffs next year. That team was lucky to even be in the playoffs after the Colts and Bengals gifted them their last two wins.

And if Cro-Magnon deliberately sabotaged games to force a trade, then I think Roger Godell needs to hear about it. I hope Jammer has some hard evidence to back that claim.

FINALLY!!...haha Cro barely signed with the Jets and the legal troubles are already becoming an issue. The UT had an article about how Cro owes thousands in parking fines to San Diego and that he failed to report to court for $25000 owed in child support. Nice move AJ!

As a player Cromartie is a good, young and proven. I don't believe he would have thrown the game. He will do well next year. I had hoped Chargers got more immediate compensation for him. Chargers should have allowed him to play his bump and cover style of play. Who is to guarantee #2, or #3 round tender we got for him in 2011 will pan out. LT, Williams and Manumaleuna will be missed dearly. I wish football wasn’t so cut throat I appreciate your efforts more than you know. I hope AJ will stop taking himself to serious and quit jumping the gun on his remarks. I also desire that Turner and our Coaching staff and remaining Players can unite to keep this thing going. Don’t let the strong desire to win a supper-bowel burn out. Let’s get this thing done. We owe it to the many 50 All Time Great Charger players that have came before u. Don’t party before season is over. Really! Cason it’s time to step up, my man. Sproles, SD has made you rich give us benefit of the doubt. Shawn you need to assume God given leadership roll….it all starts with you exhibiting good moral character. I know it’s in you. I hope in the future we do a better job of retaining our good players lets sign them earlier. To avoid a complete dismantling of a championship caliber team we need to sign these young proven players quickly as possible. With all the awesome players in this past decade we should have won a Championship already. What is missing??? Soul search so we can win and I can die a happy man.

God bless America and the Chargers

Cromartie threw the playoff game? If so, how many games did he screw up on purpose to get the Chargers to the point where they decided to get rid of him? They been shopping him since 2008. Maybe that why the Chargers didn't make to the Super Bowl th past couple of years. He wasn't happy after Rivera took over the defense. So it all had to started then. Man if this is true, what other players has done this. I will never look at a football game the same again. Making millions, and still would steep that low.

Charlie Whitehurst ... get that long haired fag out of here!

Jay said... Mar 6, 2010, 9:25:00 PM

what do you guys think is the next move to or from san diego? bring in porter? jones? or just wait until the draft?

Ed said... Mar 6, 2010, 11:30:00 PM

Next Step? It's clear A.J. Smith put prices on all the Chargers that he is willing to trade for Draft Picks. So we just wait for the Draft. Free Agency, we can only get one. So A.J. Smith will proably wait until all the smoke settles, than sign one free agent that we may need. But he waits long enough he will get this player for a cheaper price. since this player will be without an offers.

Cro has all the physical talent in the world, but doesn't have the brain to put it all together. The guy is just a straight-up dumb a$$ who blames everyone else when he gets toasted. Good riddance.

I really don't think he threw games, he's just STUPID and blew coverages regularly.

Anonymous said... Mar 31, 2010, 10:37:00 AM

I'm a jet fan and i hope we made the right decision on him. H is a great cover guy and i don't see Rex using him much on blitzes especialy run blitzes. He is there for 1 reason! Man Coverage-Shut down!
