Six Chargers Selected To 2011 AFC Pro Bowl Team

Six San Diego Chargers were announced to the AFC Pro Bowl, including Quarterback Philip Rivers, Tight End Antonio Gates, Guard Kris Dielman. Left Tackle Marcus McNeill, Outside Linebacker Shaun Phillips, and Defensive Tackle Antonio Garay were named as alternates.

Rivers makes his third consecutive appearance to the Pro Bowl, posting 30 touchdowns and over 4000 passing yards through 15 games this season. Kris Dielman and Antonio Gates have become perennial All-Stars, and Marcus McNeill finds himself selected to the Pro Bowl even after sitting out the first five games of the season.

Shaun Phillips finally gets the recognition he has been deserving now that he is out from under Shawne Merriman's shadow. And Antonio Garay has proven to be a diamond in the rough, effectively filling the void of Jamal Williams and the fact that he had a major leg injury in 2007 makes his Pro Bowl selection all that more impressive.

Although the Chargers couldn't find a way to make the playoffs, their top ranked offense and defense are still being lauded as they send a handful of players to Hawaii.
