The San Diego Chargers are making improvements after an embarrassing Sunday night loss to the Cleveland Browns and have signed wide receiver Seyi Ajirotutu to a one-year contract today and placed wide receiver Richard Goodman on the “Reserve-Injured” list.
Ajirotutu
signed with the Chargers in 2010 as an undrafted rookie free agent from
Fresno State. In 10 games as a rookie, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound
receiver caught 13 balls for 262 yards and two touchdowns.
In his third
NFL game at Houston’s Reliant Stadium, Ajirotutu caught two touchdown
passes, including a 28-yard game winning touchdown pass and finished the
game against the Texans with a career-high 111 yards on four catches.
Ajirotutu spent the 2011 campaign with the Carolina Panthers, playing in
14 games and recording one catch for four yards.
Goodman injured
his hamstring on the opening kickoff against the Browns, and will miss
the rest of the season. Prior to his injury, Goodman ranked 11th in the NFL with a 27.6-yard kickoff return average.
The Chargers also signed wide receiver Tori Gurley to the practice squad. Gurley is a first-year player from South Carolina who was signed by the Green Bay Packers in 2011 as an undrafted free agent and went to training camp in 2011 and ’12 with the Packers. Gurley also has spent time on Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Bucanners practice squads in 2012.
To make room for Gurley on the practice squad, the Chargers waived defensive end Logan Harrell.
