Chargers place Franklin, Taylor on Reserve-Injured; sign Cattouse, Gatson from practice squad

The Chargers have placed defensive tackle Aubrayo Franklin and safety Brandon Taylor on the “Reserve-Injured” list and signed safety Sean Cattouse and cornerback Greg Gatson to the active roster from the team’s practice squad.
Franklin, who started the eight of the first nine games, missed three of the team’s last six games – including last Sunday’s game in New York against the Jets – due to a knee injury.

Taylor injured his knee in the game against the Jets. The team’s third-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Taylor was inactive for the first 11 games of the season.  He played in the last four games and made his first career start in New York last week.

The Chargers now list 17 players on their Reserve-Injured lists.

Cattouse is a 6-2, 210-pound rookie from Cal-Berkeley who went to camp with the Chargers in 2012.  He was released in final cuts and was signed back to the practice squad on Nov. 28. Cattouse wears No. 40.

Gatson is a 5-11, 165-pound rookie from Arkansas, who saw action in two games early this season.  He has spent the other 13 weeks on the practice squad. Gatson wears. No. 31.

The Chargers also signed two players to the practice squad.  Cornerback Arthur Hobbs, a rookie from Spring Valley, Calif., who went to school at Nebraska-Kearny. Hobbs went to training camp with the Bolts in 2012. And the team added tight end Anthony Miller, a rookie from Cal-Berkeley who went to training camp with the Denver Broncos in 2012.

The Chargers also lost an additional member of the practice squad today when fullback Jamie McCoy was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers to their active roster.
